The ABBARETTES sang ABBA hits and wowed the crowd at The Landmarc in Bournemouth on Saturday night.
The venue was packed by 10pm on Saturday when the ABBARETTES came on stage, to cheers from the audience. Some people were paying their own tribute to the world renowned pop band sensation by dressing up in their best ABBA costumes.
At the Landmarc there is a sitting area where dinner can be served to those who were willing to pay £25 for a two course dinner. A hen-do and a 30th birthday party did just that and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The ABBARETTES consists of only two women, dressed very authentically as Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, who enthusiastically sang ABBA’s biggest hits, including ‘Money Money Money’, ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme’. (With it being just the two of them it was obviously not a full representation of the hit band ABBA, however) The ABBARETTES commented on the fact that there were just the two of them, saying that there was no need for the men!
The ABBARETTES provided plenty of excitement for their audience, who responded by dancing enthusiastically throughout the performance. The group sang and danced for just over an hour, without any breaks, cleverly changing costumes whilst onstage.
The only slight criticism of the performance is that they broke away from ABBA songs to sing “It’s Raining Men” and S Club 7’s “Reach for the Stars”. However the audience did not seem to mind: everyone was too busy being a “Dancing Queen”.
